I really like the the final rendered look of this. The problem is that I haven't found a way to actually animate the character, say make him walk, successfully.
I'm not really familiar with 3DSM, I've only used Maya, but I would think you could rig this guy pretty easily. You'd probably have to increase the poly count by quite a bit to make him look smooth. And I would also detach the arms from his body, at least in structure, they can still be tight against him like it is... but make them completely seperate objects.

Cheers for the comment. I've not used 3ds max for very long and i'm gonna have a go with character rigging and see how i get on.
